Welcome to Customs

Welcome to Customs..

What if the turbulence you’re feeling isn’t because you’re lost… but because you’re standing at the border of a whole new way of living?

I was thinking the other day about what it’s like when we travel overseas.

You know how it goes. Weeks before the trip you’re packing your suitcase, then unpacking it, then repacking it again because it’s overweight. You convince yourself you really don’t need that extra pair of shoes … until somehow they end up back in there anyway!

Eventually everything is zipped up, you’re excited about where you’re going and before you know it, you’re standing at the airport with your passport in hand, ready for your next adventure.

You check in, make your way through security and eventually arrive at customs. That’s when it hit me … perhaps that’s exactly where so many of us are in life right now.

Not physically but energetically…It feels like we’re all standing in customs.

For years I’ve spoken about the shift from the old world into the new. Some people describe it as moving from 3D to 5D consciousness. Others simply describe it as a life transition, a spiritual awakening or a complete rethink about what really matters. Whatever language resonates with you, one thing seems certain: the old ways don’t seem to be working like they used to.

Working harder isn’t necessarily creating more success.

Being busier certainly isn’t making us happier.

Pushing through exhaustion isn’t giving us more energy.

In fact, many people are feeling what I call tired and wired. We’re running on empty, living in a constant state of stress, with our Stressed Overloaded System (SOS) becoming our normal. Somewhere along the way we learnt that being busy meant being successful, yet the harder we push, the more life seems to push back.

That’s because I don’t think we’re living in the old world anymore.

I think we’ve left it.

The challenge is that we haven’t quite arrived in the new one either.

We’re standing in customs.

If the old 3D world was built around survival, competition, judgement, proving ourselves and constantly striving for more, then the new 5D world feels very different. It’s built on connection, collaboration, community, authenticity, trust and living from the heart and love rather than from fear.

The space in between is where most of us are living right now.

It’s noisy and it’s uncertain.

It’s where we’re trying to work out what we’re taking with us and perhaps more importantly, what we need to leave behind.

Imagine for a moment that you’re standing at the customs counter.

The customs officer smiles and says, “Passport please.”

You hand it over.

“Perfect,” they say. “Now let’s have a look inside your suitcase.”

You place it on the counter and slowly unzip it.

The customs officer smiles again.

“Oh… you’ve packed quite a lot.”

They reach inside.

“Fear?”

“I’m sorry… you won’t be needing that where you’re going.”

Next comes a bundle labelled Limiting Beliefs.

“These won’t be accepted either.”

Then they pull out People Pleasing.

“Unfortunately that’s prohibited.”

You smile nervously as they continue unpacking.

“Working 80 hours a week because you believe your worth depends on how productive you are?”

They chuckle.

“No … life works a little differently where you’re going.”

“Scarcity?”

“They don’t use that currency there.”

“Comparison?”

“Everyone travels as their authentic self.”

“Control?”

“We’ll exchange that for Trust.”

“Judgement?”

“That won’t get through customs either.”

One by one, they place these old patterns on the bench until your once overflowing suitcase starts looking surprisingly light.

Then they look up and ask the question that changes everything.

“So … what are you bringing with you?”

You pause for a moment and feel into your answer.  “What would I really like to take with me?”

Your respond with …

Joy.

Love.

Fun.

Kindness.

Curiosity.

Peace.

Freedom.

Playfulness.

Gratitude.

Authenticity.

Connection.

Community.

Purpose.

The customs officer smiles.

“Perfect.”

“Welcome to the new world.”

The more I thought about this analogy, the more I realised that perhaps this is exactly why so many people are feeling the turbulence right now. It’s not because we’re doing anything wrong. It’s because we’re sorting through our suitcase. The suitcase of our life.

The 4D transition isn’t the destination. It’s the customs hall. It’s the place where life invites us to become consciously aware of everything we’ve been carrying, giving us the opportunity to decide what still belongs and what no longer serves us.

As someone who works with energy and helps people create shifts through conscious awareness, I see this every day. We can’t change what we’re not aware of, but the moment we recognise an old belief, a fear or a pattern that’s been quietly running our life, we suddenly have a choice. We can keep carrying it, or we can leave it behind and travel a little lighter.

For me, the passport into this new way of living is JOY.

Not fleeting happiness that depends on everything going perfectly, but the deeper joy that comes from living in alignment with your authentic self. Joy is what moves us from surviving to thriving. It’s what transforms our SOS into the FUN Effect, helping us become more Free, Uplifted and Naturally ourselves. It reminds us that life isn’t simply about achieving more; it’s about experiencing more of who we really are.

This is also where the Walk Yourself Like a Dog™ Reset Effect becomes such a powerful practice.

The whole idea began with one simple question: What if we gave ourselves the same daily self-care that we naturally give our dogs?

The inspiration came from something I found fascinating. Research has shown that dogs don’t just live alongside our stress – they actually absorb it. Studies have found that dogs’ long-term cortisol levels closely mirror those of their owners, suggesting they experience much of the stress we carry.

It’s one of the reasons dogs benefit so much from their daily walk. It’s not simply about physical exercise. Their walk gives them an opportunity to move, explore, regulate their nervous system, process their environment and release the stress they’ve absorbed.

Then it dawned on me …If we know our dogs need that daily reset because they’re carrying our stress, why aren’t we giving ourselves the same opportunity?

With stress and burnout now at record levels around the world, many of us spend our days absorbing pressure from work, family, technology, financial concerns, other people’s emotions and the relentless pace of modern life. We become what I often call tired and wired – our Stressed Overloaded System (SOS) becomes our normal.

The Walk Yourself Like a Dog™ Reset Effect is about changing that.

It’s about intentionally giving yourself the same daily care you would naturally give a much-loved dog. That means getting outside, moving your body, breathing fresh air, reconnecting with nature, calming your nervous system and creating enough silence, stillness and space to hear yourself again.

Every walk becomes more than exercise.

It becomes a chance to step out of the customs queue for a little while.

As your nervous system begins to settle and your mind becomes quieter, you create space to reconnect with your own energy and become consciously aware of what you’re still carrying.

Perhaps you’re still holding onto fear.

Perhaps you’re carrying an old story about not being enough.

Perhaps you’ve packed people pleasing, perfectionism or the belief that your worth depends on how busy you are.

Or perhaps, for the first time in a long time, you realise you’re ready to unpack them.

Because that’s what this transition is really about.

It’s not about becoming someone different.

It’s about travelling lighter so you can become more of who you truly are.

And that’s when your SOS begins to transform into FUNFeeling Free, Uplifted and Naturally ourselves.

So this week, before you rush into another busy day, imagine yourself standing in that customs queue one more time.

Take a look inside your suitcase.

Ask yourself: What am I choosing to carry into this next chapter of my life?

And perhaps even more importantly …What am I finally ready to leave behind?

Trust. Believe. Allow.

Because maybe the customs officer has known all along …You were never meant to carry that much weight.

💫 Just Choose Life. Choose consciously. Live aligned.
